Endometriosis

Day 6 battle wounds
Day 2

Endometriosis

Left ovary

Left ovary getting rid of endometriosis
On August 5th I had my dye test done. I was a little nervous and scared, but everything went okay.  The radiologist inserted a catheter inside my uterus and injected iodine. It was uncomfortable and I got a little crampy, but Shane got to be in there with me so I felt a lot better. The iodine dye went through my fallopian tubes and out my ovaries. Everything was clear and there was no sign of scar tissue or blockage.
On August 11th I went in for a laparoscopy surgery to look for endometriosis. My mom, Shane and I arrived at Rocky Mountain Surgery Center at 5:30 a.m. I got taken back and started to get ready for surgery. The nurse gave me something that would start to make me numb and kind of have an amnesia feeling. According to my mom and husband I started laughing a lot saying I felt drunk and that I could see 2 of them. Apparently I was having a good time.  I remember getting wheeled to another bigger room with several people. I moved from one bed to another. They gave me oxygen to keep my breathing steady. That was the last thing I remember. Trying to wake up from the anesthesia was pretty hard; all I wanted to do was sleep. The nurse was helping me get dressed and I remember her pulling off little sticker things that kept me hooked to a machine. What I was hooked to or what it did I don’t know, I just remember her pulling it off and it hurt. Then the nurse took me to a waiting chair where they would bring my mom and husband to meet me. As I was trying to wake up I had thought I had heard the nurse say something about my appendix so I asked Shane. He said that they had removed my appendix because it was covered in endometriosis. My left ovary was filled with endometriosis so Dr. Cox removed it there as well.  I guess I had a lot of endometriosis so we were all kind of surprised.   Sunday August 14 was my worst day. I couldn’t hold anything down and my family was worried I was getting dehydrated. We contemplated going to the ER but I knew I had to fight. I eventually got some liquids down and held it down. My temperature had gone from 95.6 to 100.3 degrees in a couple hours. My incisions are healing up well and I am able to move around quite a bit.  So far so good.

Girls Camp

This week was girls camp. It was so much fun. On Tuesday morning Shane and I meet the 4th year girls at the church at 5:45 to drive to our hike. The hike was good and it was a lot of fun getting to know all the 4th year girls. We meet the rest of the stake Wednesday morning at camp. Throughout the week we made crafts, had a facial, played, learned how to make recycled paper, had an amazing testimony meeting and ate a lot of delicious food.  We had 26 girls go and they are all so amazing and talented. It was a great week.

Camping

Friday June 24 Shane, I and our nephews Tanner and Bridger drove up to 8 mile up by Soda Springs to go camping. We found a beautiful spot tucked away. The boys started gathering wood for the fire. They were having fun cutting down branches and chopping the wood with the axe and saw. Once they got the fire going we had chili cheese dogs for dinner.  Then the boys wanted to make a bonfire and did just that. They got it pretty big. Then it was smores time and stories around the fire. We got ready for bed in the camper and fell asleep. A couple hours  after going to sleep Shane and I hear the boys screaming and crying. We woke up and Tanner was yelling and crawling up to our bed throwing stuff around. Shane asked what was going on and he woke up and said I don't know and went back to bed. It scared us. Then the next morning we woke up and had doughnuts for breakfast and the boys went out and made another bonfire. After the fire was out we went on a little hike and then drove home. It was a lot of fun watching the boys...be boys.

Lake Powell

 Aunt Darcie and Brielle

 House Boat
Sitting on the bar stools at Moqui Cave

Saturday June 11th we started driving to Lake Powell to spend a week on a house boat. We stopped that night at our friends cabin and drove the rest of the way on Sunday. When we got to the wahweap marina at Page Arizona we were so excited to go on the lake. The weather was so nice and hot. We got all of our things in the house boat then went and got something to eat. The night before and all Sunday my eye had been hurting so I tried flushing it out with water and that helped a little bit. That night Shane and Mike gave me a priesthood blessing. I am so grateful for the amazing priesthood holders we have! The last 3 mornings being on the boat the pain in my eye was so excruciating. My mom and dad had got me eye drops that helped. The last morning on the boat everyone was cleaning and getting their things ready to go. I was trying to help all I could, but I could barely open my eye. The tiniest bit of light was awful. Dad gave me a hug and held me for a while. If anything his love and concern helped get me through.
On the boat the other families would mix my sister and I up the whole week it was funny. It was ok though we are used to responding to each other’s name. They would ask my sister how her eye was doing and they would ask me questions about my baby.  We answered their question then corrected them.
There were 2 levels in the house boat and there were almost 30 people on the boat. It was a lot of fun getting to know the other families on the boat. We swam a lot, ate a lot and slept a lot, played card games and read.  On our way home we stopped at Moqui cave in Kanab, UT it was really neat. We stayed that night in a hotel at Fillmore and had breakfast in the restaurant for father’s day the next morning. We arrived home June 19th, it was a lot of fun and very relaxing!!

Memorial Weekend

This weekend Shane and I planted our first garden!! It was a lot of work, but it will be worth it. This weekend we also sold all 7 puppies. We put an ad on KSL and posted pictures around the area. We sold 1 Friday, 4 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. It was kind of sad, but it is good to have them gone. It was a pretty busy weekend.

Two years

It's crazy to think that 2 years ago Shane and I started trying to add to our little family. We have had ups and downs and some curvy roads. We have grown a lot and learned a lot. May of 2009 we decided to fast and pray to see if we should go off birth control to add to our family. We felt good about it and went off birth control. We thought, like most couples, that it would happen fairly quick. Well it didn't obviously. One year later we decided to get some testing done to try and get some answers. We did 3 tests on Shane and I had blood work done. That's all the testing we did. We had always liked the idea of adoption and thought that maybe that was the road we needed to take. We received many answers in many different ways revealing to us that this was our path to take. So in November 2010 We went to LDS Family Services. We had to fill out a lot of paperwork online as well as having multiple interviews and a homestudy. We attended classes and learned a lot there. A few months later we had the feeling to go to Heart to Heart adoption agency out of Utah. We contacted them and got the process going. The only issue we ran into with them was the money aspect. We applied for grants and looked at other options but everything fell through. So I was getting a little discouraged and frustrated that all was going so well and then it all came crashing down. Shane and I had FHE one Monday evening and I read an article out of the April Ensign. The article was called Faith and Infertility. As I was reading it I got a feeling of hope and reassurance. That night I prayed to Heavenly Father that I didn't know what else He wanted me to do or where we needed to go. The next morning before school I checked my facebook account and had gotten a message from a friend telling me about a friend she has that is a case worker and that the state is always looking for adoptive parents. So I thought maybe that's where we need to go next, maybe that's an answer from Heavenly Father. Shane and I discussed it and decided to go through with it. We filled out paper work and attended our first PRIDE class on April 5th. We had 9 classes to take to get licensed to be foster/adoptive parents. We just graduated May 5th. It was amazing the information we received through those classes as well as our other adoptive classes. We still don't know when or where we will find our children, but we do know that we have learned a lot and have strengthened one another. We are doing everything in our power to make it happen and leaving the rest to Heavenly Father. We can't wait to become parents someday. :)

Good weekend!!

On Friday April 29th Shane and I went to Utah to visit my grandparents. It was really nice to be able to spend time with each one of them one on one. It had been over a year since I had seen them or talked to them so it was nice to catch up. On Saturday April 30th all of Shane's siblings and their spouses (except Clint) got to go do a session in the Jordan River temple. It was amazing!! The spirit was so strong there with all of us there. On Sunday May 1st Mandy and Clint blessed their new baby Taylin. The blessing was in Shane's parents house. It was so neat. It was our first time experiencing a blessing done in the home. It was a very good and uplifting weekend.

Puppies!!!

Last night we got home about 9:30 p.m. and our dog Lila had 2 dark puppies. We went out at 6:00 a.m. this morning and she had a total of 8 puppies, 4 dark (like our male Dodger) and 4 light colored (like herself). They are so cute!!! She is being such a good mommy. We tried moving the pups and Lila in a plastic kiddie pool so they weren't so cramped in the dog carrier, which she had them in, but she did not like that idea and started to freak out a little bit. So now they are all safely back in the dog carrier. Today we got a little worried about her and took her to the vet; she wasn't eating or drinking anything, but the vet said she was okay. I can't wait to see them open their eyes and see how many males and females we have. All in all we are very proud of Lila and we adore the pups!!

New Do

Last week I got my hair cut and colored. I really like having shorter, darker hair. I love to experiment with styles and colors. :)

Spring Break

This week is spring break for ISU students. It has been a nice little break so far. Shane and I were going to go on a little vacation, but decided it wasn't a good idea due to me being on jury duty. It is the first time I have been summoned to jury duty, so hopefully I don't get called in. :) We have 6 more weeks left of school this semester and we hope it goes by fast. We are ready for summer so we can go camping, go to Lake Powell and enjoy the nice warm weather.

Mom's birthday

On March 19 it was my mom's 51st birthday and a group of us went to the Logan Temple. There were 6 couples who went. It was a lot of fun and so nice to go to the temple. Shane and I hadn't been to the temple in 4 months (which felt like forever) so it was a very nice refresher and an eye opener. After a session in the temple we all went to eat at the Bluebird restaurant nearby.

Destinations Inn

Last night we went to the Destinations Inn in Idaho Falls for a little getaway and to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  We stayed in the Thailand room, it was really neat.  We had a big jet tub a projector screen for the TV/ DVD, an awesome steam shower (that we got to put a scent in) and a king size bed. We went out to eat at Olive Garden and rented a movie. It was very relaxing and very enjoyable. I highly recommend the Destinations Inn for a nice getaway!!
