Camping

Friday June 24 Shane, I and our nephews Tanner and Bridger drove up to 8 mile up by Soda Springs to go camping. We found a beautiful spot tucked away. The boys started gathering wood for the fire. They were having fun cutting down branches and chopping the wood with the axe and saw. Once they got the fire going we had chili cheese dogs for dinner.  Then the boys wanted to make a bonfire and did just that. They got it pretty big. Then it was smores time and stories around the fire. We got ready for bed in the camper and fell asleep. A couple hours  after going to sleep Shane and I hear the boys screaming and crying. We woke up and Tanner was yelling and crawling up to our bed throwing stuff around. Shane asked what was going on and he woke up and said I don't know and went back to bed. It scared us. Then the next morning we woke up and had doughnuts for breakfast and the boys went out and made another bonfire. After the fire was out we went on a little hike and then drove home. It was a lot of fun watching the boys...be boys.

Lake Powell

 House Boat
Sitting on the bar stools at Moqui Cave

Saturday June 11th we started driving to Lake Powell to spend a week on a house boat. We stopped that night at our friends cabin and drove the rest of the way on Sunday. When we got to the wahweap marina at Page Arizona we were so excited to go on the lake. The weather was so nice and hot. We got all of our things in the house boat then went and got something to eat. The night before and all Sunday my eye had been hurting so I tried flushing it out with water and that helped a little bit. That night Shane and Mike gave me a priesthood blessing. I am so grateful for the amazing priesthood holders we have! The last 3 mornings being on the boat the pain in my eye was so excruciating. My mom and dad had got me eye drops that helped. The last morning on the boat everyone was cleaning and getting their things ready to go. I was trying to help all I could, but I could barely open my eye. The tiniest bit of light was awful. Dad gave me a hug and held me for a while. If anything his love and concern helped get me through.
On the boat the other families would mix my sister and I up the whole week it was funny. It was ok though we are used to responding to each other’s name. They would ask my sister how her eye was doing and they would ask me questions about my baby.  We answered their question then corrected them.
There were 2 levels in the house boat and there were almost 30 people on the boat. It was a lot of fun getting to know the other families on the boat. We swam a lot, ate a lot and slept a lot, played card games and read.  On our way home we stopped at Moqui cave in Kanab, UT it was really neat. We stayed that night in a hotel at Fillmore and had breakfast in the restaurant for father’s day the next morning. We arrived home June 19th, it was a lot of fun and very relaxing!!
